A Journey Towards Hope
Thirty-two unread messages. Daniel put down the phone, frustrated. How would he get through the next few days? Looking for answers, or distraction, Daniel picked up the phone and started watching videos. One video caught his eye. A remarkable individual, talking about something religious and spiritual. Daniel couldn’t quite make it out, but he was interested and found something impressive, maybe admirable, about the person. So, Daniel continued watching.
The man in the video was speaking about hope, kindness, and the importance of finding peace in a busy world. He explained that people often spend so much time comparing themselves with others on social media that they forget to appreciate their own lives. His words touched Daniel’s heart because he had been feeling lonely, stressed, and uncertain about his future.
Daniel watched a few more videos and decided to follow the man’s page. One video encouraged viewers to spend time with their families, help someone in need, and take a few quiet moments each day to reflect on their lives. Daniel realized that he had been so focused on his problems that he had forgotten the people who genuinely cared about him.
The following morning, instead of immediately checking his phone, Daniel went outside for a short walk. He called his mother, apologized to a friend after a misunderstanding, and offered to help an elderly neighbour with some shopping. These were small actions, but they made him feel better.
However, Daniel also understood that social media could not solve every problem. He decided to follow reliable religious and spiritual content while spending less time scrolling through meaningless videos. When his worries became overwhelming, he planned to speak with someone he trusted rather than keeping everything to himself.
A week later, Daniel looked back and realized that the videos had not magically changed his life. They had simply helped him see that change could begin with small decisions. He learned that true spirituality was not only about watching inspiring people online but also about practising love, forgiveness, patience, and kindness in everyday life.
From that day onward, Daniel used his phone more wisely and tried to become a source of hope for others, just as that remarkable individual had become a source of hope for him.
