Maya continued watching and soon realized that the person in the video was speaking about kindness, forgiveness, and the importance of staying calm when life becomes difficult. At first, Maya thought it was just another motivational video, but something about the speaker’s words stayed in her mind.
She watched another video, then another. The person explained that difficult moments do not last forever and that sometimes people become stronger by facing the things they fear. Maya found herself thinking about her own situation. She had been worried about the next few days and had spent hours imagining everything that could go wrong.
For the first time, she put her phone down without opening another app.
“Maybe I’ve been looking for answers in the wrong place,” she whispered.
The next morning, Maya woke up earlier than usual. She made herself a cup of tea and sat quietly near the window. She remembered one sentence from the video: You cannot control everything that happens, but you can control how you respond.
Those words gave her a strange sense of peace.
Over the next few days, Maya tried to follow that idea. Whenever she felt anxious, she took a deep breath instead of immediately reaching for her phone. She called an old friend she had not spoken to in months. She helped her mother with some chores. She even went outside for a walk and noticed how beautiful the evening sky looked.
By the end of the week, nothing around Maya had magically changed. Her problems were still there. But Maya had changed the way she looked at them.
She opened the video one last time and smiled.
“Maybe I didn’t find the answer,” she said softly. “Maybe I found the courage to find it myself.”
She put down her phone, stood up, and walked toward the next day with a little more hope.
