“The woman, Sara, talked” (S210)

32 unread messages. Amina put down the phone, frustrated. How would she get through the next few days? Looking for answers, or maybe just trying to take her mind off everything, Amina picked up the phone and started watching random videos. One video caught her attention. A young woman was talking about religion and spirituality. Amina did not understand everything she was saying at first, but something about the way she spoke felt different. She was calm, honest, and not trying to look perfect.

So Amina kept watching.

The woman, Sara, talked about how she had also gone through times when she felt confused and distant from her faith. She said that having doubts did not always mean a person had lost their way. Sometimes, it meant they were searching for something deeper. What really stayed with Amina was when Sara said that religion should not only be something we talk about; it should be seen in how we treat people when nobody is watching.

Amina watched a few more of her videos that night. She noticed that Sara never acted as if she was better than anyone else. She openly admitted her mistakes and spoke about helping parents, being kind to strangers, forgiving people, and taking time to pray and reflect.

For the first time in days, Amina put her phone down without feeling like she had wasted her time.

She knew one video could not solve all her problems. But it gave her something she had been missing: hope.

The next morning, she woke up a little earlier, prayed, and sat quietly for a few minutes. She also messaged a friend she had been avoiding and asked if everything was okay.

Nothing suddenly became perfect. But Amina felt different.

She realized that Sara had become a role model for her, not because Sara had all the answers, but because she was honest about not having them. Amina understood that sometimes a spiritual role model is simply someone whose life makes you want to become a little kinder, more patient, and closer to what you believe in.
