So, Florian continued watching and was intrigued by the things the person talked about. There seemed a certain deep meaning in there that Florian hadnt encountered since childhood. But even more he was intrigued by the calm and confidence the person spoke with, it seemed like a very grounded individual.
After watching some more videos and scrolling through some wikipedia pages, Florian started to understand the depth and complexity of the concepts explained. Rationally, he slowly became convinced of the truth of the theological and metaphysical ideas he had learned of. In everyday life, he often thought of them, and started to see the world differently.
The videos provided meaning where regular life didnt seem to. But it also gave an even deeper feeling of being disillusioned in this seemingly meaningless modern world. Florian developed a love/hate relation to the videos, as they seemed so true and pointed to a better world, but also divorced him more from the regular life of his peers, who hadn’t come across the same videos.
Furthermore, the theological convictions that came from the videos made him realise some existential elements in his own life; sin, death and the possibility of redemption. It gave him a form of meaning and hope but also anxiety. The matters talked about in the videos seemed to big to be solved.
