So, Luis continued watching and decided to click into the influencer’s profile. He was surprised to see that he didn’t have a great amount of followers, although it still was a respectable number. Compelled, Luis started watching the influencers’ most viral video. He didn’t really understand the whole spiritual meaning of what the guy was saying, but he liked the way he talked, how he looked, the aura he had; he looked successful. Luis didn’t take long to watch all of his videos. After a finishing the last one, Luis knew three things: he was meant to become a relevant individual, following this guys advices will get him there, and he had to change his mentality.
After a week, Luis felt improved. The influencer posted daily, giving tips every time and reassuring his followers that they were going in the right direction. Luis followed every single advice, changing his appearance, his way of speaking, and he even practiced in front of the mirror how to manipulate his facial expressions. He knew by now that he was going to become a valuable individual. Three weeks had passed, and Luis looked back to his old self with repulse. His life had changed; the influencer had given him meaning, something to look forward to.
A year after, Luis was unrecognizable. His father was concerned, his sister was scared, and his best friend had distanced himself from him. Luis felt proud of this, for he saw himself as superior to them. ‘I pity them’, he’d tell himself, ‘they will always be stuck in their worthless lives while I succeed’.
After two, Luis would commit his first first hate crime. It was against a prostitute; he had watched American Psycho the week prior. He was too deep into the red pill movement to acknowledge the real purpose of the film. Luis had sent the video of the aggression to the influencer, who answered with a thumbs up and a ‘keep it going, buddy’. Luis felt like a man of value.
