Flicker kept watching the video, It was about interpreting the metaphors in films and television through certain religious perspectives. By coincidence, the ideas discussed in it seemed to offer an answer to a question Flicker had been turning over in his mind for a long time. The films mentioned in the video felt familiar to him, almost like old friends, and this made him feel an unexpected sense of relief.
He continued watching. Little by little, his mood began to ease.
After that, he kept browsing through the account, searching for more videos that interested him. At first, he had put on his headphones because he wanted to rely on music to drive away his gloom. But now, the headphones resting over his ears had become a way of listening to someone else speak. This new interest gently pulled him away from his worries.
He casually searched for a restaurant on his phone and walked into a noodle shop. Following his own appetite, he ordered a set meal. Both the food and the video made him feel better and better. The side dishes that came with the noodles were especially delicious, so he packed them up and brought them back to the hotel.
In the dining area of the hotel, Flicker continued watching the videos until sleepiness finally came over him. Some of the troubles that had weighed on him seemed to have grown lighter.
Perhaps, a year later, Flicker would no longer remember the exact content of those videos. But he would remember the moments when something inside him loosened, and the feeling of having his confusion quietly untangled.
