32 unread messages. Sarah put down the phone, frustrated. How would she get through the next few days? Looking for answers, or distraction, she picked up the phone and started watching videos. One video caught Sarah’s eye. A remarkable individual, talking about something religious or spiritual. She couldn’t quite make it out, but she was interested and found something impressive, maybe admirable, about the person. So, she continued watching and found herself wrapped up in the inspiring narrative of this persons spiritual journey. She learnt how they had also been going through a stressful period in their life, but upon being dragged to a church service one morning by a friend, all of this was lifted. The individual sung the praises of the Christian religion, talking of their close bond with Jesus and how he has guided their life. Sarah was envious of this sort of support, and having a assured faith in the bigger picture of her life was once again enticing. Clicking off this video, something had switched inside her. She instantly searched up for more videos of people talking about their religion, and was similarly struck by their inner peace and ability to process struggles in their life through the lens of their faith. Worry did creep into Sarah’s mind however. She had not come from a religious family and none of her friends had expressed any interest either. Attending a service or exploring local churches seemed nerve racking and unfamiliar to her, so she was left pondering what to do. She decided to leave it for that day, and to not rush into anything, as even she was aware of how videos online can suck you in. Weeks passed, and her busy and stressful life trundled on. Despite this, what she had seen in these videos was always lurking in the back of her mind, and deep down she realised that at some point she was going to have to explore this religious curiosity.
