The woman in the video held a calm that seemed demanded attention and presence. Her voice was clear, her words deliberate, as if she chose each one with care. As Sally watched, she felt herself falling deeper and deeper into the videos ; her attention drifting from the content of her words to the intonation of her voice.Their body grew lighter, their thoughts slower.
Despite this Sally was quickly distracted by the desire for a warm cup of tea. Without much thought, she found herself walking to the kitchen, moving through the familiar ritual. Sitting at the table, hands curled around the mug, Sally let their mind wander from what they needed to do the next day at work, to what she would have for dinner. Forgetting those videos almost completely.
The next morning, after enacting their mundane routine of showering, brushing teeth, watching the news while eating breakfast, Sally chose to leave the house 15 minutes earlier so she could walk to work instead taking the horrifically busy 59 bus. . It was lightly raining and the roads extremely busy. But Sally found herself noticing the other commuters, the sunlight hitting the glass of nearby houses. The world seemed a little softer.
It was a small shift. one Sally barely realised had happened. Yet it changed the feeling of the day completely.
A sense of restfulness settled in and Sally remembered the videos she had watched yesterday on her phone. She remembered her words about staying present through reflection, about kindness, about the small, steady values that shape a life. And when Sally arrived home, after a day filled with gentle connections, they opened their phone once more. Slowly, she began replying to the messages waiting for them. They even found the ease to let go of the clutter, the strange, spam-filled messages that had clogged up her inbox and cleared them away, like sweeping dust from a disused room.
