Found herself trapped in an endless cycle of charisma. She didn’t know what was compelling about the people she was watching, but she recognised a certain spark within them. They seemed to be radiant, joyful, and confident. They exuded a strength that she had never seen before. And these concepts that they were talking about – big ones, the ones that kept her up at night – seemed like nothing to them. Like there was no weight in these fears that she had held for so long. So, she started searching. As she scrolled and scrolled, she became more numb. These questions they kept asking were impossible to answer. And yet, one by one, they were answered. She didn’t understand how these people could pick up a Bible and decode what was inside. Sophie had never really thought much about the Bible other than at school, but the people in these videos seemed not just to understand the written words, but to know them. It seemed as though they were unlocking some form of code – a code which had been hidden from her for years, but was only now shifting into view. And the code was being cracked in the form of some shiny Americans and Australians who were beaming through her phone screen.
