The Gen Z Role Models Project has been featured in the Cherwell, Oxford’s oldest student newspaper.
In a powerful first-person narrative, Cherwell journalist, Satchel Walton, explores how he and other young people are navigating faith and spirituality in a ‘sort of secular age’.
Towards the end of the reflection, Walton draws out some points from a video call with me.
“Gen Z is a generation of authenticity and personalisation, which informs their identities, so their notion of categorisation is much more fluid,” David told Cherwell. “They might land on a certain religious affiliation, but I think if you were to ask them, there’d be a much wider spread of traditions informing how they view the world.”
Many thanks to Satchel and the Cherwell team for shining a light on the project and on important trends in religion and spirituality today.
