OEN is delighted to convene this online event with Words by Design, an innovative small business based in Oxford, as part of the network’s Generation Z project.
What it’s about
This event — led by Dr Tony Gray, director of Words by Design — will introduce participants to the art of life-writing. Through his consultancy, Tony has decades of experience writing the life stories of ‘ordinary’ people — from chimney sweeps to arctic explorers to WWII survivors. He shares his insights into, and his love for, the writing process.
Participants of Gen Z’s story completion task may especially appreciate the opportunity to learn from Dr. Gray.
Who can attend
This event is open to:
- Research participants of the Generation Z story completion task;
- Affiliate members of the Oxford Exemplars Network (OEN);
- And, if space, the general public.
Spaces are limited and will first be offered to research participants and OEN members through email. Registration to the public will be open in due course if spaces remain.

NB. This event will take place at 4:00pm UK time so that participants timezones that are west of Oxford (e.g., in San Francisco, California) may join virtually at a respectable hour. Participants in timezones that are east of Oxford (e.g., in Hong Kong) might consider joining the November run of this event instead.
